On day 18 of the challenge I got the subject “measure” and a location in Nørrebro, and I had to use alternative measures to get my shot.
- What: measure
- Where: (55.70321,12.54673)
- When: 18-11-2019 and 18-12-2019
November
In November the challenge sent me to Nørrebro on a side street to Tagensvej. Reaching the destination I found myself on the sidewalk between an apartment complex and some street parking. Today’s word “measure” was not obvious anywhere.
My first association for “measure” was measuring tape, so I looked for a worker’s car with some tools, but no such luck. The I looked down at the parking spaces and it hit me, that the lines between parking spaces looked like long rulers, albeit without numbers. That would have to do it for me, so I took the photograph below.
December
For my December photograph I was still on vacation in Norway, an we went to the nearest town, Tønsberg, where I found a parking lot. It had a lot of parking spaces, and white lines, but I wanted to do something a little different, so I found a kind of railing between cars and used it as my subject instead. You can see the result below.
Comparison
The photos are similar in a few ways; angle and composition is almost the same, if the second photo had been shot a little lower, it might have worked better.
Notice the yellow tint on the second photo; I’m not certain, but I think it is due to the sub-zero temperatures in Norway, that damage, or at least discoloured the film. Even though I didn’t want the effect, I think it gives a nice extra touch to the photo.
Come back tomorrow and see the next photos of the challenge. Also remember to follow me on Instagram.
