30. destruction

Day 30 and the very last photographs of the challenge. The word of the day was “destruction”, very fitting for the end / destruction of the challenge.

November

For the November photo the challenge sent me to Amager Strand at the waterfront, but this day I was spending with my wife in Aarhus, so I had to cheat a little with the location. Instead of going to Amager in Copenhagen I went to the harbour in Aarhus, where the environment should be pretty similar to the one in Amager Strand.

Walking by the harbour with my wife, I was thinking about how to photograph “destruction”. It was a cold day with the first frost of the year, and there was a lot of frozen water puddles on the ground. Turning to our more childish sides we enjoyed the sounds of cracking the ice, and that gave me the idea for the shot.

I had my wife stand on a frozen water puddle and destroy the ice just as I took the photo close to the ground and the foot. You can see the result below. It’s not very succesful, as it is difficult to se the ice breaking.

December

In December for the recreation shot, there was no ice anywhere despite being the day before New Year’s Eve, so I had to come up with something else.

On the grounds behind our apartment. some construction work started a few weeks earlier, digging up the ground and building what seemed to become a small park or utility gardens. A small hill next to the bicycle path had earlier had some beautiful trees, which had now been removed. It was all still very messy, as they had finished the work yet, so it was perfect for my “destruction” shot. You can see my last photo below.

Comparison

The last set of photographs from the challenge are not very alike. Using a frozen water puddle in the original photo turned out to be a mistake, as it wasn’t freezing temperatures for the recreation shot. However, the theme is still similar in the shots. One interesting detail is the shoes in the first and the water tower in the second picture; they both take up roughly the same amount of space, and they are both brown, which brings a similarity to the otherwise quite different photos.

Thank you for following my challenge throughout the last 30 days. I will continue to post my photos and descriptions here on my blog fairly regularly.

If you haven’t already done so, remember to follow me on Instagram, where I will post many of my photographs more frequently than here on my blog.
