27. crack

Day 27 and today’s word “crack” gave me all kinds of colourful associations but I ended up using the most literal meaning of the word.

November

In November the challenge sent me to Dybbølsbro on the outskirts of Vesterbro, to an area with lots of construction and roadwork. The exact location was almost on the train tracks and close to an impromptu parking lot on gravel.

On the other side of the road was the entrance to a construction site, so that wasn’t a way to go either. I was looking for “crack”s and even though I found some cracks between stones in the sidewalk, I wanted something else and not another shot like “crevice”.

Because of all the clear space on the train tracks, a sort of skyline was visibly on the other side, so I wanted to photograph that. I found two tree standing relatively close, and tried to photograph the buildings through the crack formed between the trees. You can see the result below.

December

In December I was back home in Frederiksberg and for my recreation I chose the location with the best view of the city, I could think of; my kitchen in the apartment.

I composed my shot to have as little as possible of the window in the shot, while still being able to see the window. With the city “skyline” in the background I took the following photograph.

Comparison

Thematically the two photos are similar, but otherwise they are pretty different. The thought behind the first one is nice, but the execution didn’t really go as planned. If the right tree had filled out the rest of the frame, it would have been a better shot, and would have been close to the recreation.

Come back tomorrow for the final sprint of the challenge, only three days left.
